For the first time in almost two years, Australia has announced the re-opening of its borders to vaccinated tourists and other visa holders.
From 21 February 2022, all fully vaccinated Australian citizens, permanent residents and eligible visa holders will be able to travel to Australia without needing to apply for travel exemption. However, you will need to provide proof of vaccination.
If you do not meet Australiaโs vaccination requirements, you are not eligible to travel under this arrangement.
Travel Exemption
Unvaccinated visa holders will still need a valid travel exemption to enter Australia.
Travel exemptions may be granted to travelers who have medical reasons and to people escorting Australian citizen or permanent resident minors to travel to Australia.
With this re-opening of Australian borders on 21 February, it is welcoming news for many sectors including international education; although some skilled migrants and international students have already been permitted to enter the country since last December.
