Benefits and Nomination Allocations of State Sponsorship

State nomination enables the State Governments to nominate highly skilled migrants to meet the respective states’ skills needs. The state nomination can assist skilled migrants who are willing to live and work in their state to qualify for a skilled migration visa, providing them with additional points towards their application for subclass 190 or subclass 491.

The Skilled Nominated (subclass 190) visa is a permanent resident visa for people with an occupation in high demand in Australia’s labour market.

The Skilled Work Regional (subclass 491) visa enables eligible skilled workers and their families to live, work and study in designated regional areas of Australia for 5 years. This visa holder will be eligible to apply for a Permanent Residence visa after three years.

To receive state nomination, one must have an occupation featured in the State Nominated Occupation List and meet all the state and federal Government’s eligibility requirements.

The benefits of state nomination are:-

  • Priority visa processing with the Department of Home Affairs (DHA).
  • You will receive additional points towards the DHA points test.
  • Access to a more extensive occupation list.
  • An opportunity to live and work in the state that has nominated you.
