What is a Global Talent Visa (GTI)?
Are you a highly skilled professional or specialist in certain areas and interested in staying in Australia permanently? Then you may be eligible to apply for a Global Talent Visa (GTI) (subclass 858)
The Global Talent Visa Program is a streamlined visa pathway. It is for highly skilled professionals, senior executives, and exceptional individuals to work and live permanently in Australia. This visa also attracts a significant amount of PhD students with the demonstration of their exceptional talent and international recognition in a target sector.

-A pathway is for extremely talented applicants who have an internationally recognised record of exceptional and outstanding achievements working in other sectors for either a profession, sport, the arts, or academia and research

What requirements for the GTI?

Applicants must submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) and receive an invitation to apply under this pathway.

To be eligible for a Global Talent visa, candidates must:

prove they are internationally recognised with evidence of outstanding achievements
-
still, be prominent in their field of expertise
-
provide evidence that they would be an asset to Australia, in their area of expertise

have no difficulty obtaining employment in Australia or becoming established in their field

have a recognised organisation or individual (“nominator”) with a national reputation in the same field in Australia nominate them as global talent.

Candidates must meet a high standard and show an exceptional track record of professional achievement. This may include:

- The high-income threshold is adjusted every financial year, and it is the amount set by Fair Work Australia. This year, the threshold is at $162,000. The Department will assess the applicant’s ability to earn the threshold through:
- The applicant’s current salary
- Job offer outlining the salary
- Recent PhD or Masters graduates in the target sectors.
